Parking

With some new construction and exciting things happening on The University of Alabama campus this year, there will be a few changes in Gameday parking for the 2009 Football Season.  The University of Alabama is working hard to utilize all available parking for their fans.  While making your travel plans to and from Tuscaloosa, please make special note of all the enhancements and changes in parking from last year.

*Please note that parking on sidewalks or blocking handicap accessible ramps will NOT be allowed. This will be strictly enforced and vehicles found in violation will be subject to being towed at their expense. Also, parking in post-game exit routes, transit lanes or areas indicated as no parking zones is prohibited. Violators are subject to having their vehicles towed at their expense.

NEW FOR ’09 Public "Reserved" Parking Lot

Want hassle free parking?  Reserve your spot in the 800-plus space paved Soccer Lot located on University Boulevard (across from Arby’s) which has convenient service via the Crimson Ride Transit System to and from the Quad.  The price for a reserved season pass this year is $111.  If you are interested in purchasing a parking space, call Southtix at 1-800-240-2300 or go on-line to www.southtix.com to reserve your space.

There will also be other areas for public parking on the east portion of the UA campus. The following lots will be $10 per vehicle on Gameday and sold on a first come first served basis. We encourage fans that plan on parking in these lots to enter campus via Campus Drive and then to turn left onto 5th Avenue East. This will help ensure a quick travel time from McFarland Boulevard.

  • Grass lot located at the corner of University Boulevard and 5th Avenue East

  • Grass area surrounding the new Soccer lot

  • Grass area behind the Old Capstone Medical building

NEW FOR ’09 Gordon Palmer Hall

Tide Pride will be reserving the parking lot to the north and south of Gordon Palmer Hall (located off of Hackberry Lane near the round biology building).  There will be no public parking in these lots.

NEW FOR ’09 KD Park

While we still welcome tents in the park, due to the continued beautification project on campus, there will be no parking in the grass at the KD Park.  The KD Park is located at the corner of University Blvd. and Hackberry Lane.  Bollards and chains have been installed to protect the grass area as well.

NEW FOR ’09 Baptist Student Union Parking Lot

55 spaces in the lot directly west of the Baptist Student Union will be reserved for Tide Pride parking.  Attendants will be available to direct fans to available public parking.

NEW FOR ’09 Residential Parking

Residential parking on and access to Colonial Drive, south of 8th Ave., will be eliminated starting at 8 AM on Friday to allow the set-up of temporary student gates.  Students will be relocated to Parham Hall, Farrah Hall, and other orange/brown residential areas.

Parking for People with Physical Disabilities

The University of Alabama provides a limited number of parking spaces for people with disabilities. For people who use a wheelchair, accessible parking is located at the lot on Wallace Wade Ave. (#1 on the www.uagameday.com pregame parking map) and the Communications Card Lot (#2 on the www.uagameday.com pregame parking map). All other parking for people with disabilities is located at the Campus Drive Deck (Campus Drive at Hackberry Lane).  We are pleased that we will be able to offer more services at this location and more parking space is available to accommodate the fans.  This deck serves at the hub for the Crimson Ride transit system.  Restroom facilities are conveniently located in the Campus Drive Deck. Crimson Ride buses will transport fans from this location to the Quad for the festivities there. Transportation to the stadium will begin 3 hours prior to kickoff.  Parking is $10 per vehicle and will be collected at the lot.  For post-game shuttle, all buses leaving the stadium for the Campus Drive Deck will board on the west side of the stadium on Wallace Wade Drive.  Buses will be a combination of small school buses and Crimson Ride buses. Post game, fans who want to go to the Campus Drive Deck via a bus should go to the west side of the stadium, across Wallace Wade, and board the buses in that location only. These buses will begin running at the end of the third quarter and will continue to run one hour post game.  For more information about services for people with disabilities click here or for a map and explanation of the disability buses click here.

Please note that it is a Class B misdemeanor to use a disability parking permit unless the person to whom the permit is issued is in the vehicle.  State laws will be enforced. Class B misdemeanors are punishable by a fine of $50-$200 and up to 40 hours of community service.

Transportation to and from the north end of Bryant-Denny Stadium is provided for these individuals and their guests beginning two hours and thirty minutes prior to kickoff.

*For safety reasons, once all parking spaces are taken within an area on campus, UA Parking Services may elect to close the area. If sufficient parking spaces re-open, UA Parking Services may re-open the area for additional parking.

*In order to give all fans the same opportunity to park on or around campus, please do not use chairs or other tailgating items to reserve parking spaces. Any unattended items will be considered abandoned and may be removed.

When core campus closes 3 hours prior to the game, only vehicles with permits for the following parking areas will be allowed access onto the closed portion of University Boulevard - Elm Street, Rose Administration, 6th Avenue (east of the Quad), Capstone Drive, 8th Street, Stadium Handicap and the President’s Mansion. For example, if you have a parking pass in the ten Hoor area, please use Campus Drive or Marr’s Spring Road to access these lots.
