2018 GAMEDAY UPDATES

ENHANCED SECURITY AT BRYANT-DENNY STADIUM

In the interest of continued safety for fans, student-athletes, coaches and Gameday personnel, the University of Alabama will implement walk-through metal detectors at all gates of Bryant-Denny Stadium on Gamedays beginning in September.

STADIUM GATES

For the 2018 football season, Bryant-Denny Stadium gates will open 2.5 hours prior to kickoff.

TRAFFIC

McFARLAND BLVD. CLOSURE

A left turn lane from McFarland Blvd. onto I-20/59N ramp is closed. Fans are highly encouraged to use the Cottondale or Hwy. 216 route when leaving Tuscaloosa.

I-20/59 CONSTRUCTION

Construction continues on I-20/59 between exits 77 & 73 in both directions. Narrow lanes and reduced speed limits will likely cause delays. Use Highway 216 Route (exit 100) or Cottondale Route (exit 79) to avoid congestion.

DOWNTOWN TUSCALOOSA CONSTRUCTION

Lurleen B. Wallace Blvd. North & South through dowtown Tuscaloosa will undergo construction for the 2018 football season. As a part of a road widening project, various lanes will be closed to traffic throughout the Fall. At least two lanes will remain open in both directions.  These closures may cause traffic delays.

BICYCLE PARKING

Bicycles MUST be parked and secured to a UA bicycle rack.  Bicycles found parked and secured to structures such as, but not limited to, trees, fences, columns & bollards will be impounded by UAPD. If your bicycle has been impounded, please contact UAPD at 205.348.5454.

CLEAR BAG POLICY

In the interest of public safety and to significantly expedite entry into Bryant-Denny Stadium, the SEC has implemented a clear bag policy that will limit the size and type of bags that may be brought in by fans.

RIDESHARE POLICY (UBER, JOYRIDE, TAXIS, GOLF CARTS)

Fans are welcome to use ride-sharing services to be dropped off on campus for football games. The designated ride-sharing pick-up & drop-off area is W. 4th Street at Presidential Park.

NO vehicles - including Uber, JoyRide, taxi cabs or golf carts - will be allowed to access the core campus near Bryant-Denny Stadium 3 hours prior to kickoff.

 

TAILGATING

FAMILY FRIENDLY TAILGATE

A tailgating area combining all the fun of Gameday with an atmosphere conducive for families will be available again for 2018.

The new tailgating zone is located at the corner of Hackberry Lane and Campus Drive, approximately two blocks north of the Quad, on Peter Bryce Campus.

Shuttle service will be provided to and from the Quad from the Family Friendly Tailgate.

The location will be first-come, first-served and free of charge. Tailgaters will need to bring and set up their own 10'x10' tent.

The area will be ALCOHOL-FREE and strictly enforced. There will be food vendors, face painting, free inflatables and other activities for children.

*PLEASE NOTE: Inflatables have been relocated from the Quad to the Family Friendly Tailgate but will be free of charge.

EXPOSED-ALCOHOL POLICY

In an effort to promote a more family-friendly environment, we are asking all fans to store all extra alcohol in coolers or crates inside their tailgating areas.

ELECTRICITY ON THE QUAD

The power for tailgating purposes, i.e. auxiliary power, will be cut off on the Quad 1.5 hours after the game is concluded, regardless of game time. However, in the interest of safety, all light poles as well as portable light towers will stay onFans are welcome to stay on the Quad, but the auxiliary power will be shut off after the allotted time. 

GAMEDAY SHUTTLES

All shuttles from the Quad or stadium will run until 1.5 hours after the game, regardless of game time. Again, fans are welcome to stay on the Quad or other areas and tailgate; however, shuttles back to the east side of campus will no longer be running after the allotted time.

GAMEDAY INFO TENT

The Gameday Info Tent will move from the front steps of Reese Phifer Hall. The new location will be directly across the street on 9th Ave. across from Bibb Graves Hall. If you have any questions about a location on campus or what is happening on Gameday, feel free to stop by!

SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS

Like many other campuses nationwide, the University of Alabama is now a Smoke-Free Campus. The change, effective Jan. 1, 2015, is designed to make the campus a healthier environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors. Smoking of any lit product (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited on UA grounds, parking structures, athletic facilities and buildings. Whether you are a smoker or a non-smoker, UA knows that the campus community will demonstrate thoughtfulness, consideration and cooperation as we work together to successfully implement this campus-wide policy.
